2011 Fall Wildlife Festival

A little rain (a squall) and wind (hold on to your tent) did not deter intrepid visitors from coming to
the Fall Wildlife Festival to learn about the Refuge and more from exhibits and wildlife shows.

Visitors learned about owls, hawks, and eagles from the Raptor Conservancy during the two incredible shows and their feathered stars.  The Saw Whet owl won everyone's heart as he looked over the
crowd, taking it all in.  This is always an excellent program, with fascinating information
about the owls, hawks, and other wonderful birds the group rescues and rehabilitates.

Reptiles Alive had its stars as well, including a huge snapping turtle that captured everyone's attention.
Presenter Caroline introduced the audience to her many creatures in a presentation that helped visitors
understand more about their reptilian neighbors.

Kids made frog masks, became migrating Monarchs, and learned about birds.  Adults joined in to learn about habitats, native plants, and bird banding.  The hayrides were for everyone as were the many other
wonderful, informative exhibits.
