All three of the refuges in the Potomac River National Wildlife Refuge Complex are located just over 18 miles south of Washington, D.C. Two of the refuges, Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge and Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck National WIldlife Refuge are open to the public and have available trail maps. Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge is not yet open to the public.
