All three of the refuges in the Potomac River National Wildlife Refuge system are located just over 18 miles south of Washington, D.C. Two of the refuges, Occoquan Bay NWR and Elizabeth Hartwell Mason Neck NWR are open to the public and have available trail maps. Featherstone NWR, however is closed to the public.
